Get out and explore

Since the peak of the COVID Pandemic in the fall of 2020, I have been trying to rekindle my love of exploring the outdoors. The uncertainty of the when we would get back to “normal,” the chaos of homeschooling 2 boys while 2 adults are both trying to work, all under the same roof, was creating more stress than I could handle. My health was starting to change, for the “not better,” and I was gaining weight. I just felt unhappy.

In October, 2020, my wife and I made a trip to Sedona, Arizona. I had been to Sedona a couple times in the year previous, and always felt a unique connection there. May be the Vortexes there are real, may be its because I love locations with dramatic elevation changes, but I do feel like my mind and body slows down when I am in that area of the country. We made a couple hikes a day while there, and each hike I felt healthier, I felt stronger, I was happier!

When we returned home, I picked up my last set of running shoes and got out for a few runs. It felt great! In November I started running a few times a week, then on November 26th, 2020, I laced up my running shoes and I have done so every day since. Running has become an integral part of my life and now I am working in to see how fast and competitive a near 40 year old can be after rediscovering running. More importantly, rediscovering himself
